As our pictures taken by John Aron show, headteacher Heather Payne was among the first people to congratulate Karan and the other students.

Hide AdA spokesman at QEGS said: “We are extremely proud of our A-Level students who have produced another well-deserved set of results.
“They worked hard throughout their time in the Sixth Form and their results reflect this; about a third of results were either an A grade or one of the prestigious A* grades.
“Over 10% of students gained at least one A* grade.
“The overwhelming majority of our students have secured their first choice university place or been accepted on apprenticeship or training schemes.
“They have done so well and we applaud their achievements; they are fine ambassadors for QEGS.
