TEN YEARS AGO: Brownies are Rotary Club united against polio
Here we see members of the Alford and Mablethorpe Rotary Club with local Brownies 10 years ago.
The club had teamed up with youngsters from the area to plant thousands of crocus bulbs in the battle against polio as part of the Thanks for Life campaign.

Hide AdCrocuses were chosen because the purple colour denotes the dye used to mark a child’s finger to indicate they have been immunised against polio. By involving local young people it was hoped they would learn more about the disease and the campaign to eradicate it and be spurred on to participate in fundraising activities.
