CAB is settling into its new home
The CAB has moved from its iconic 1930s town centre building on Central Avenue to the Annexe in the former Registrar’s office at Queen’s Buildings on Potter Street. The building is also home to the Credit Union and BVCS.
Bureau director Steve Saddington said the move was the end of several years of planning.

Hide AdBassetlaw Council helped with they move as part of its anti-poverty strategy.
He said staff and volunteers at the CAB were bracing themsevles for another busy financial year.
Last year they saw around 6,000 people and expect this number to increase.
Steve said: “Alot of our clients are referred by Bassetlaw Council especially those with council tax problems, debt issues and other issues. Being here it is easier for clients to be referred.”

Hide Ad“Around 35 per cent of people come to us with welfare benefit problems and 30 per cent with debt issues.”
Clients come for help with a range of issues including those around debt, benefits and housing, with various forms of advice and information available.
Steve said funding issues at the CAB, but stressed that it will not effect frontline services.
“ We will have to look at restructuring because of some reductions in some grant aid, but at the moment that is not looking at any frontline services,” he added.
