Grant of £200k for memorial
The centre, which is taking shape at the top of Canwick Hill, on the outskirts of Lincoln, is a memorial to the personnel of the Second World War’s RAF Bomber Command.
The grant, approved on Tuesday by the district council’s executive board, will help to deliver the second stage of the project – the exhibition and visitor centre, the Chadwick Building.

Some £3million is needed to make the Chadwick Building a reality, as well as provide access roads and car parking.
Council leader Marion Brighton said: “It is very fitting that there is a site dedicated to the bravery of those who served with Bomber Command, not only from Lincolnshire but from around the world.
“It is something that we, as a council, have supported for many years as a resource of international significance.”
