Horse and dogs die after attack
Police and veterinary experts were called to the incident scene at 10.30am on the Riverside path, off Bowling Green Road.
It is thought two Staffordshire terrier-type dogs had mauled the horse.

Hide AdThe horse received injuries to its leg and face in the attack. Sadly, even after veterinary care, it was later put to sleep.
The dogs are also believed to have been trampled by the horse during the attack.
The owners also agreed for them to be put down, due to the extent of their injuries.
The incident was reported to the RSPCA.
One local resident, who did not wish to be named, said there was ‘blood everywhere’.
Another, who walks her dog regularly down the path, said the animals had been tethered there for weeks and she had felt ‘quite scared’ as they approached her while she walked past.
