Beaches '˜better under EU' claim
Some 95 per cent of UK beaches are now clean enough to swim in, up from about 75 per cent in the 1990s.
Lincolnshire beaches classed as “poor” in the 1990s and now ranked “excellent” include Chapel St Leonards, Ingoldmells South and Mablethorpe.

Hide AdSkegness and Anderby, deemed only “sufficient” in 1995, now also merit the highest ranking. Moggs Eye in Huttoft has improved from “good” to “excellent” since 1995.
Melanie Onn, MP for Great Grimsby, claims the improvements are down to EU standards being enforced.
She said: “All beaches in Lincolnshire are now safe for families to swim in.
“This is just one of many environmental benefits we get by being in the EU. Leaving Europe would risk throwing away this progress and make it harder to protect our shared environment and wildlife.”
