Wedding: Gemma Smelt & Saul Carroll
The bride, the eldest daughter of the late Ian Smelt and Linda Smelt, of Burgh le Marsh, was given away by her grandfather, Fred Gee.
She was attended by Aimee Shields (friend), Hannah Smelt (sister), Marnie Lake-Carroll (groom’s sister) and Rachel Fenton (bride’s friend).

Hide AdThe groom is the son of the late Cpt John Carroll and Angela Lake-Carroll, of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Rather than one best man, he had a committee of four: Simon Carroll (brother), Jos Carroll (brother), Iain Shields (friend) and Robert McGhie (friend).
The reception was held at North Shore Hotel, in Skegness, and followed by a honeymoon in Bali.
The bride was educated at Skegness Grammar School and Queen Mary University of London, where the couple met. She is now employed as chief sub-editor at a publishing company in London.
The groom, who was educated at Culford School, Bury St Edmunds, Queen Mary University of London and London South Bank University, is now employed as a police constable in East London. He proposed above the dome of of Central Westminster Hall in London in full dress uniform.
The couple have made their home in Hackney Wick, London.
