Market Rasen Golf: Hunter tracks down President's Day prize
In the men’s stableford competition on President’s Day, Tony Hunter walked away with the salver after posting a superb score of 41 points.
He finished one ahead of runner-up Steve Crompton, with Steve White (39pts) edging ahead of Mark Briggs (38pts) and Neil Bridgwater (37pts).

Hide AdThe best senior (age 65-plus) was past captain Eddie Dunn who finally found his game to card a creditable 37 points, while Charlie Elliott was leading junior with 33 points, and Matt Cooksey claimed the nearest the pin prize on the 18th.
Chris Bean scored a hole-in-one on the par three 12th hole while competing in the ladies’ stableford.
But the massive five points this shot earned was not enough to bring her into the prizes.
Tilly Lawrence won the salver with an excellent 38 points, three clear of runner-up Kim Robinson, while past captain Ann Todd was third with 32, Sue Borthwick won the nearest-the-pin prize.

Hide Ad* The Mixed Greensome Medal Banovallum Bowl saw the debut of two junior girls – eight-year-old Daisy Marshall, playing with junior section organiser Grant Hinchliffe, and 11-year-old Millie Perry playing with her Dad Mike.
Daisy earned her first prize money by sinking a 10ft putt on the fifth hole to score a two in the sweep.
The eventual winners were acting general manager Kim Robinson and board chairman Colin Law with a well-crafted nett 64, just over a shot ahead of father and daughter combo Paul and Jade Baker.
Colin and Chris Bean won best gross prize with a round of 82.

Hide Ad* The Oldroyd Cup, played in the same format, was a much closer affair with just 0.4 of a shot separating the top three.
John Boulton and Jane Salt won with nett 63.0, just 0.2 ahead of men’s vice-captain Gaff Elliott with his wife Liz.
Only 0.2 behind them were Steve Hewish and Tilly Lawrence who took the best gross score prize with a round of 75.
* A total of 31 men’s pairs competed for the Carter Cup in a foursome medal.

Hide AdThe two leading pairs had to be separated on a back nine countback with Hatrel Dhindsa and Eric Winder pipping John Chapman and new member Steve Conway to the trophy with nett 70.5.
The best gross scores was Paul Baker and Simon Desay’s well-earned round of 80.
