Chepstow 1.50 WIN
This six-year-old son of Milan will always have a special place in the heart of west country trainer Victor Dartnall. For when the gelding ground out victory in the Bumper here at Chepstow on Welsh Grand National day two weeks ago, it was the handler’s first win after an outbreak of the contagious, neurological virus, equine herpes, had forced him to close down his yard for several weeks earlier in the season. The form of that race has already been franked, so Dartnall is hopeful today of a successful first run over hurdles for a horse who is one of the most promising prospects in his yard. Three miles on heavy ground will provide a stern test of stamina, but he’s bred for the job.
THURSDAY: CHARTREUX WON (2/1)
