THE Lodge Lane seconds made hard work of what should have been a comfortable victory, only making the game safe in the closing minutes of the game.
Creswell were very determined and committed which led to a lot of scrappy play and drew Dinnington into playing the ‘wrong’ game.

Hide AdThe home side took the lead after only three minutes through a Cliff Miree try converted by Michael Maddison and some thought that, even at this early stage, the game was won
Dinnington then tried to run the ball from all areas and their play had no structure to it which made it easy to defend.
Halfway through the half, Dinnington paid for their profligacy when poor tackling allowed Creswell to level the scores.
The home side replied straight away with some good interplay to put Tom Price over in the corner but further errors again allowed Creswell to level.

Hide AdStern words, as they stood behind the posts, had the desired effect and they scored again within a minute when good play set up a try for Ryan Cooper, Maddison converted.
In the last minute of the half they went further ahead when Antony Green broke from half way to score by the posts and Maddison’s conversion put them 26-12 ahead at the break.
The second half was very stop-start due to a lot of injuries.
The game was held up for a long time at the start of the half when a Dinnington player was knocked unconscious and this set the tone for the rest of the game.

Hide AdPlay became concentrated in midfield and there was not much in the way of try scoring opportunities.
Midway through the half Creswell installed a bit of panic in the home ranks as they ran in a try from a lineout on the home 22 but from that point onwards Dinnington began to get on top and they made the game safe when Green scored his second try, after good interplay with Mick Yeend.
Maddison kicked his fourth conversion to complete the scoring.
