Ries, pronounced Reese, hailing from the prairies of middle America, crafts sly and compassionate songs for the crooked-hearted.

Hide AdWith an electric guitar and piano, a clear voice and steady hand, she deftly pulls listeners in with disarming candor and holds them there with smart and tender poetry.
She has just released Cardinal, a handcrafted EP of songs written while on residency in Rouen, France.

Recording in Minneapolis by the inimitable Jeremy Messersmith, it is her second EP in the wake of 2014’s Ghost Of A Gardener.

Since 2008's Country EP, a split 45" with Anaïs Mitchell released on Righteous Babe Records, Ries has recorded and toured extensively with Mitchell supporting Bon Iver and others.
She was granted a Chicago Arts award in 2010, worked in Chicago thea- tre, toured Europe and the States, learned how to repair Wurlitzers and (kind of) play the drums.
